'13B', directed by Vikram Kumar, belongs to horror genre. Movies of such genre should be short and also the total
concept of songs should be avaoided, cause this will loosen the grip and lightens the atmosphere. Movie lacks tight grip
and is too lenghty to take it. On the whole directed was able to create enough scare among the viewers. Cinematography
is excellent. Editing should have been more crisper. Apart from few drawbacks '13B' has good screenplay with a new
concept.
Story:
Manohar (R. Madhavan), an upper middle class Indian, moves into a new apartment '13B' on the 13th floor with his family.
From the first day in their
new home, the women get hooked to a new TV show 'Sab Khairiyat'. The show is about a family eerily similar to their
family, who have also just moved into a new house. As the TV show unfolds, the incidents that happen in the show start
happening to Manohar and his family. Initially, a number of happy events take place and a lot of good things happen, both
in the show and with Manohar's family. Then things take a turn for the worse and shocking incidents start happening in the
TV show. What happens next? Will Manohar be able to get to the root of the problem ans solve the mystery? What
happens next forms the crux of the movie.
Performance:
Madhavan does a good job. He has given his best performance. Neetu Chandra is apt. Dhrtiman Chatterjee as the
neighbour did a commendable job.
Deepak Dobriyal makes an impression.
Music:
Background score is extreemly good. Songs are good and catchy.
Verdict:
'13B' has an interesting plot, but movie of this genre are better if they are kept short. '13B' is too lenghty and also songs
should have been avoided. To sum up '13B' is worth a watch. Can be rated as an above average movie. | |
