'Aloo Chaat' by Robby Grewal has routine concept, it is a chick flick with some light entertainment. Dialogues are well penned but Screenplay is not executed properly and script is not strong. The only saving grace is some soulful music.
Story:
Nikhil (Aftab) resides in US. He comes to visit his family in Delhi. His parents start showing him Punjabi girls for wedding. However, Nikhil is in love with a Muslim girl Aamna (Aamna) but does not have the guts to break the news since everyone is scared of the strict Papaji (Kulbushan), his orthodox wife and mother. Added to that is the Mamaji (Sanjay) who is out to create trouble. Nikhil decides to take a detour and approaches Papaji's close friend Hakim (Manoj) who is also a sexologist. Together, they decide to get in Aamna and try to sketch a plan so that she can win the hearts of the family while Nikhil pretends to create ruckus by marrying a 'Gori' girl (Linda). What happens next, will Nikhil's parents accept Aamna into their family? forms the rest of the story.
Performance:
Aftab Shivdasani is at ease with his character, he did a good job. Aamna Sharif makes a comfortable debut that doesn't put much demand on her acting skills. Linda Arsenio chips in a lot of glam as the American gal. Other supporting cast Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Manoj Pahwa and Sanjay Mishra are apt.
Music:
Music is good and youthful. A couple of melodies are tuneful. The title video towards the end credits (RDB) is eye-catching and peppy.
Verdict:
'Aloo Chaat' has some light entertainment and good music. Can be watched once if you have nothing else to do. 'Aloo Chaat' can be rated as an average movie. |  |
