'Chandni Chowk To China' is a Kungfu action comedy flick that takes you on a madcap journey from the
by-lanes of Chandni Chowk in Delhi, to Shanghai, the Great Wall and rural China, breathtaking action,
spectacular locations, hilarious gags and heart stirring emotions.
Story:
Sidhu (Akshay Kumar) a small-time cook and helper in the bylanes of Chandni Chowk in Delhi, obsessed with
making it big by winning a lottery or simply by the grace of God. He longs to escape his dreary existence and
looks for shortcuts with astrologers, tarot readers, and fake fakirs basically believing anything except himself,
despite his father figure Dada's (Mithun Chakravorty) best efforts. His redeeming moment arrives when two
strangers from China claim him as a reincarnation of a war hero in the past and take him to China. What happens
to Sidhu when he lands in China, does his belief in astrology proove to be correct, how his life takes a drastic
turn forms the rest of the movie.
Performance:
Akshay Kumar does well in Kung Fu scenes, he is hilarious when he does comedy, he gave his best
performance. Movie does not completely belong to Akshay Kumar. Chinese actors Gordon Liu as the villain
Hojo and Roger Yuan is Chiang also excelled in their performance. Deepika Padukone played dual roles as
Indian Sakhi and Chinese Meow Meow ad she was perfect as both. Her action scenes as Meow Meow are worth
appreciating. All other supporting cast also did a good job.
Music:
Music by Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy is average. Only couple of albums are peppy and catchy. All other scores are
just average. Choreography of the title song is good. Chandni Chowk To China and C C 2 C (Akshay's rap
song) are the pick.
Verdict:
Movie has high production values and costliest movie so far. It is heavily promoted and advertised. It is Packed
with star power, is shot at exotic locations, has a few catchy tunes. There are many chances that this movie will
roll out good collections at the boxoffice both in India and overseas. 'Chandni Chowk To China' can be rated as
