God Tussi Great Ho

'God Tussi Great Ho' is Director by Rumi Jaffery. The director has come up with an imaginary plot which has been visited before but then his presentation was good, somehow the narrative lacked the inertia which was required.

A known tale, the story begins with Arun Prajapathi (Salman) who is an ordinary guy with all extraordinary experiences. However these experiences are more on the darker side as Arun keeps facing failures and disappointments at all times. So much so that it appears that his girlfriend Alia (Priyanka) seems to be slipping away. In one line he is a loser and has nothing worthwhile going in life, unable to take the frustration he takes out his anger on God and blames him for all these happenings.

In a fit of rage, he throws the sacred amulet up in the heaven and this is received by none other than God. He comes down in human form (Amitabh Bachchan) and strikes a challenge with Arun, he gives them his powers for few days and asks him if he can do any better. Enthused by his new powers, Arun starts getting pranky and in the intent of doing good to everyone, he starts granting wishes to everyone. Gradually, things slowly start going out of control even for Arun who is god himself for now. And what happens hereafter is to be seen on the screen.

Presentation:

The technical values of the film were high with some good cinematography, bits of interesting dialogues, effective screenplay, costumes and locations but then the spine of the movie is the script and that was not upto the mark. Even the music was just about okay and had nothing worthwhile to carry home. Amitabh Bachchan as God did full justice to his role and gave tinges of Morgan Freeman from 'Bruce Almighty'. Priyanka somehow was not looking her awesome best, perhaps it was her changing looks and a very sidelined role. The film totally belonged to Salman Khan whose energy and exuberance is top notch, his naughtiness when he gets the powers is worth watching, Anupam Kher was effective, Rajpal Yadav was hilarious, Sohail Khan was alright, Beena was okay. The others did their bit with ease.
