Mission Istanbul

'Mission Istanbul' is directed by Apoorva Lakhia. The director known for his typical action flicks has come out with an interesting plot but then the narration was not solid enough to take the movie with a good momentum. Presentation was par excellence given the high technical values of the film.

An action adventure, the story begins with the life of Vikas (Zayed Khan) who is an ace journalist and believes in the true ideals of bringing the truth to the people. His talent is spotted by Owais (Suniel Shetty) who heads an Istanbul based news channel and goes by the name of 'Al Johara'. The channel is very well known for its controversial news and since that part of the world is embroiled in the vicious tentacles of terrorism; that is the key target for the channel. Vikas gets an offer from Owais to head the channel and fulfill his ambition of getting the real truth and unpolluted news.

Vikas who is going through a personal crisis since his marriage with Anjali (Shriya) is on the rocks and the divorce process is happening. To overcome that, Vikas takes up the assignment and little does he know what he is getting into. Truth releases upon him when Owais is killed and Vikas is given a warning by Rizwan Khan, the Turkish commando who informs him that even he would be kicking the bucket if he is planning to leave the job. What follows from there is a roller coaster ride of high adrenalin action, the taming of the terrorists and bringing justice through gun power and a war against terror. And what happens hereafter is to be seen on the screen.

Presentation:
The real backbone for the movie is the incredible camerawork and on an equal seat is the action sequences which have some really heart stopping moments. However, the flip side is the music which was not effective, the editing which could have been a lot better and mainly the script which lost its grip as the film took off with some flying colors. Screenplay was effective. Zayed Khan looked good in his trim shape and enacted his scenes well. Vivek Oberoi looked rough enough as the commando, Suniel Shetty was his regular self and carried out his role with ease and the man to watch out for is Nikitin Dheer who was flexing his muscles and looked like a real baddie. Shreya provided the required soft touch and she sure has a mysterious sparkle in her that can attract people. Shabbir Ahluwalia is one talent that needs to be utlised well. Abhishek's special number was waste, Shweta Bharadwaj was sensible and made her presence felt. The others did their bit as per the standards.
